Ranchi, Jan 3: The Savitribai Phule Kishori Samriddhi Yojana is a cornerstone effort of the state government to facilitate the education of adolescent girls and a step towards women empowerment and gender justice. Nine Lakh adolescent girls of Jharkhand are getting the benefits under the aforementioned scheme.
The Savitribai Phule Scheme was launched by Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Oct 12, 2022, from Giridih along with the Aapki Yojana Aapki Sarkar Aapke Dwar campaign.
Under the Aapki Yojana campaign which went on for a month, three lakh adolescent girls were linked to the scheme.
On Tuesday, The CM transferred an amount of Rs 219 crore to the accounts of more than five lakh adolescent girls through DBT under the given scheme.
The objective of the scheme is not only to provide financial assistance to adolescent girls for education but also to ensure the girls don’t drop-out of school and prevent child marriage.
Under the Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Munda Overseas Scholarship, youths from the deprived sections of society have been given a chance to pursue their academic aspirations abroad.
Very recently, the state government has expanded the scope of the Overseas Scholarship by signing a historic MoU with the British High Commission.
This will be the first time that the British High Commission will provide financial support to talented underprivileged youth for higher education. It should be noted that at present six youths are pursuing higher education abroad under the Overseas Scholarship Scheme.
Whereas, in the current academic session 20 youths are getting benefits of the scheme.
Previously, the benefit of this scheme was being received only by ten boys and girls belonging to the Scheduled Tribes. On the directions of the Chief Minister last year, instructions have been given to extend the benefit of the scheme to the youth belonging to scheduled castes, minorities and backward classes. The number has been increased to a maximum of 25.
