Ranchi: A low-pressure area formed over the northwest Bay of Bengal and its surrounding region is beginning to influence weather conditions in Jharkhand, causing the monsoon to gain renewed strength across the state, with the Ranchi Meteorological Centre forecasting rain and cloud cover across several districts over the coming week.
IMD Issues Yellow Alert for Heavy Rain Between August 24-27
According to the IMD, heavy rainfall is expected in several districts between August 24 and 27, prompting a yellow alert, with strong winds, thunder and lightning also likely at various locations during this period. A specific warning for heavy rainfall has been issued for Ranchi and several other districts on August 27.
Weather Department Advises Caution Amid Adverse Conditions
Given the expected rain and unstable weather, the department has advised people to exercise caution, particularly warning against venturing near open fields, trees and electric poles during lightning strikes.
Day-Wise Weather Outlook for the Coming Week
On August 24, heavy rainfall is expected at some locations in Palamu, Garhwa, Latehar, Gumla, Simdega, West Singhbhum, Lohardaga and Khunti, with light to moderate rain likely across the rest of the state. On August 25, heavy rain is forecast for Gumla, Simdega, West Singhbhum and Khunti, with moderate rain and strong winds expected elsewhere. On August 26, heavy rainfall is likely across several districts in northwestern, southwestern and central Jharkhand, accompanied by thunder and lightning at multiple locations, prompting a yellow alert. On August 27, a heavy rain warning has been issued for Ranchi, Bokaro, Hazaribagh, Ramgarh, Koderma, Dhanbad, Chatra and Giridih. Light to moderate rain with thunder is expected to continue across parts of the state on August 28 and 29 as well.
Clearer Skies Expected After August 30
According to the weather department, skies are expected to clear and rainfall intensity to reduce after August 30.
