New Delhi, Jan 8: Keshari Nath Tripathi, a prominent member of the BJP and a former governor of Bengal and Bihar, passed away at the age of 88 on Sunday at 5 am in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. With a shattered hand and breathing problems, the three-time speaker of the UP Legislative Assembly was brought to a nearby private hospital in December.

Along with decreasing oral intake and urine production, he also experienced general weakness, thus he was sent to the ICU. Tripathi was taken home after receiving treatment at the hospital for more than a week, where he passed dead in the early hours of Sunday.

After a protracted course of treatment at the Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS), Lucknow, Tripathi, who had twice infected with the Covid virus, recovered.

Keshari Nath Tripathi, who was born in Allahabad on November 10, 1934, also served briefly as the governor of Bihar, Meghalaya, and Mizoram. In Uttar Pradesh, he served as the Bharatiya Janata Party’s president.

He served six terms in the Uttar Pradesh legislative assembly. From 1977 to 1979, he served as the Janata Party’s cabinet minister for institutional finance and sales tax in the state of Uttar Pradesh.

At the Allahabad High Court, Tripathi was a senior attorney in practise. He has written multiple books and is both a novelist and a poet. Manonukriti and Aayu Pankh, two anthologies, are his two most notable literary works. Many people praised his book, “Sanchayita: Keshari Nath Tripathi.”
