Ramgarh, Jan 10: The police on Monday arrested Manjeet Mahto, a resident of Barkagaon, Hazaribag for instigating her lover to commit suicide in November last year. The deceased video called her lover while committing suicide and it was recorded by Manjeet. The police recovered a pen drive from Manjeet’s house which had the video.
Around one and a half months ago in Purbatand Tola of the Barlanga police station area, the suicide case of a newly married woman Payal was busted by police. The newly married woman committed suicide at the instigation of her lover.
In the case, the girl’s father had lodged an FIR against her husband, brother-in-law, mother-in-law and father-in-law, accusing them of killing her for dowry. On Monday, station in-charge Raghunath Singh held a press conference at Barlanga police station and exposed the whole matter.
The station in charge told that Vishal Singh’s newly wedded wife hanged herself at Teju Singh’s house in Purbatand Tola on November 19. An FIR for murder was registered against her husband Vishal Singh, and other family members.
However, in course of the investigation, it was found that the deceased Payal had a love affair with her neighbour Manjeet before her marriage. Even after marriage, Payal used to talk to him. There was a lot of debate in the in-laws’ house regarding this.
On November 26, Payal had to attend the wedding of her uncle’s son. During this, Manjeet had promised to meet her. But Manjeet went to Pune on November 18.
Payal was not happy with Manjeet’s decision and insisted he returns but he refused. Due to this, she decided to end her life and did a video call with Manjeet on WhatsApp. During the call, Manjeet instigated her to commit suicide.
In this way, Payal committed suicide by hanging herself on the fan. The Station in charge told that Manjeet had WhatsApp Payal Kumari’s file photo during the incident.
Moreover, a screen recording of the video call was made. In an attempt to hide this video call, he saved the screen recording from his mobile in a pen drive and deleted it from the mobile.
The police also seized the pen drive from the accused, which exposed the secret. The station in charge said that as evidence, the police will present the footage of the video call of abetment to suicide in the court. During interrogation, the accused Manjeet accepted his crime. Police have sent the arrested lover Manjeet to jail.
