Hazaribag, Jan.11: A septuagenarian father Harinath Tiwary is struggling to get the death certificate of his 24-year-old son Sanjit Kumar Tiwary who was murdered last year. Fed up with hollow promises, Harinath now announced to sit on fast-unto-death for the death certificate of his son.

Harinath, a resident of Atka in Bagodar of Giridih, said his son went missing last year. The police on April 22 last year recovered the skeleton of Sanjit from the Bedam forest of Dumar panchayat in Tatijharia block. The recovery was made on the confessional statement of the murderer. Harinath identified the skeleton as his son after seeing the bracelet in hand and clothes.

Sanjit is survived by his 22-year-old wife Khushboo Kumari and one-and-a-half-year-old son Satyam Kumar. Harinath said it became clear to police also that the recovered skeleton was of his son. So after the postmortem followed by all processes, the skeleton was handed over to him.

“I had performed the last rite also,” added he.

However, Harinath has not received the death certificate due to which Khushboo is not getting claims from the insurance company.

“I have also lost my wife Shubdhra after my son’s death. Now I am not getting the certificate after running from one office to another,” he said.

The money from the insurance company will help Khushboo to ensure the proper upbringing of her son, he added.

“I will sit on fast-unto-death in front of Tatijharia block office for the death certificate of my son,” he added.

Panchayat sevak Arjun Prasad said the FIR says that the recovered skeleton was of Sanjit. But in the next column, it was also written that the recovered skeleton was unidentified which is creating a problem in issuing the death certificate to Harinath Tiwary, he added.

He said he has asked for guidelines in this regard from senior officials.
