Daltonganj, Jan 14: Palamu police detained three in connection with the shootout near a wine shop on Friday evening at the Chainpur market, leading to the injuries of two brothers Ranjit Kamlapuri and Raju Kamlapuri.

Notably, Ranjit sustained injuries in his stomach and was rushed to a higher centre in Ranchi meanwhile Raju is undergoing treatment in a private hospital in Daltonganj where the bullet has been retrieved.

Police informed that the two alleged accused of the shootout Anand Soni and Kanchan Soni have been hiding and the police are searching for them.

Moreover, Police have seized one empty cartridge besides one misfired cartridge.

Police officer Uday Kumar Gupta said a preliminary investigation suggested that a brawl over the charging of Rs 10 more for wine led to the incident.

Sources said police responded to the shootout situation faster. However, Sandhya Gashti (Patrolling team) has to be further improvised in Chainpur said the assistant superintendent of police  Rishabha Garg.

The assistant superintendent of police Rishabh Garg said police have learnt that the two injured Kamlapuris were out to defuse the brawl but it was an irony of the situation that they were aimed at the shootout because they are related to the wine shop owner Binay Kamlapuri with whom the two Sonis were having altercations.

Sources said the Chainpur police have beefed up the security in Chainpur.
