Ranchi, Jan 17: Ranchi University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Ajit Kumar Sinha on Tuesday announced his plans to organise an International Tribal Youth Festival this year to support student exchange programmes in different countries. Dr Sinha was addressing audience at the Amrit Kala Mahotsav organised in collaboration with International Art and Culture Foundation, Bangalore and Department of Performing and Fine Arts, Ranchi University, Ranchi under the aegis of Ministry of Culture, Government of India.
The VC further said that there is no dearth of talent in Jharkhand, and that it just needs to be refined. “The university is going to organise an International Tribal Youth Festival in the coming days for this purpose, which will showcase tribal food and cultures from different regions of not only the country but several countries. He further informed that the fest may also involve signing MoUs with different organizations and universities from different countries.
The Amrit Kala Mahotsav began with the university anthem. Directed by Sri Vatsa Shandilya, Director, International Art and Culture Foundation, Bangalore, the programme showcased performances from not only the students of Performing and Fine Arts, but also from several different cultural organisations.
Dr Niyati Kalp, Coordinator, Department of Performing and Fine Arts, Ranchi University, Ranchi presented a welcome speech in honor of the guests, which was followed by the address of Sri Vatsa wherein he emphasised on keeping India’s cultural heritage alive through various arts and also expressed gratitude to the university for its cooperation.
The cultural performance began with songs like ‘Yeh Hai Bharat Ki Pehchan’ and ‘Chhotanagpur, Pyara Nagpur’.
This was followed by the Oraon folk dance representing Jharkhand’s folk festival Sarhul.
Choreographed by Kathak guru Vipul Nayak, a dance performance on ‘Geet Naya Gaata Hoon’, composed by former Prime Minister of India late Atal Bihari Vajpayee was appreciated by the audience.
It was followed by a dance performance directed by Savita Mishra on ‘Vande Mataram’ was performed by performers from Odissi Academy. Another performance by Odissi Academy was on ‘Namo Namo Bharat Ambe’ also directed by Savita Mishra.
As the final presentation of the program, Kathak dance ‘Jyostute’ was presented on three beats by Dhayitri Kala Kendra.
On the occasion Dr Ashish Kumar Jha, Controller of Examinations; Dr Smriti Singh, Deputy Director, Professional Education Council; and Prof (Dr) B P Sinha, Director, School of Mass Communication, Ranchi University were present along with the office bearers, faculty deans, heads of various departments of Ranchi University and art lovers from across Jharkhand along with students of different departments of the university were present.
