Ranchi, Jan 19: Jharkhand Chief Minister Heman Soren on Thursday said that in the last three years, 14.12 lakh families have been covered under the Har Ghar Nal Se Jal scheme. That is, till now about 17.57 lakh (28.73%) rural families of the state are being provided tap water.
Notably, a meeting to review the progress of the Jal Jeevan Mission (Har Ghar Nal-Jal Yojana) and the Swachh Bharat Mission Gramin, being run in the state, was held today in the Jharkhand Mantralaya auditorium under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Hemant Soren.
The CM added that 630 villages, 105-gram panchayats and one block of Jharkhand have been covered 100 per cent with tap water in every house.
“Most of the solar energy-based water supply schemes are being implemented in the state of Jharkhand. Solar energy has been given prominence in the water supply scheme by the department, due to which the state will save about 500 to 600 crore rupees and in the same way energy conservation can also be done,” he said.
The Chief Minister said that the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation (DWSD) is trying to develop climate-friendly water infrastructure in the state, in this regard several schemes and programs are being run by the department. Suitable arrangements are being made by making strategies for such areas where the problem of water quality has come to the fore.

He further directed all the senior officers present in the meeting and the Deputy Commissioners of various districts to connect through video conferencing to speed up the works of the Jal Jeevan Mission and Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin).
“All of you have just heard the words of Union Jal Shakti Minister Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat in the meeting. Hope all of you will bring improvement to the issues pointed out by them,” he said.
He said that the provision of pure drinking water to every household of the state and the vision of ODF under the Swachh Bharat Mission has to be fulfilled at all costs.
“There should not be any laxity in all these works and the works have to be completed within the stipulated time,” he added.
He informed all the officials that providing clean drinking water to every family has been the priority of the state government.
“It would be a matter of misfortune if we are not able to provide pure drinking water to the people despite having so many experienced office bearers and experienced leaders. All of us should understand our responsibility very well and also fulfil the responsibility. Our government is guaranteeing social security to everyone in Jharkhand. Full care has been taken to ensure that all sections including labourers, farmers and the needy do not have to bear any financial burden for pure drinking water,” the CM stated.
