40 years after, 7 Jharkhand universities to hire over 950 non-teaching staff

Ranchi, Feb 2: The seven state-owned universities are set to send a recommendation to the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) to recruit over 950 non-teaching staff.

This is after over 40 years that hiring on such a large scale will take place in the seven state universities.

According to sources, the Higher and Technical Education Department has got the roster clearance from the Personnel Department. The appointment requisition will be sent to JSSC as the roster has been cleared for these posts.

Talking in this regard, Vibha Pandey, deputy director of the higher education department said, “The vacancy will soon be out, as the rosters have been cleared. The vacancies will be taken out by the Jharkhand Staff Selection Committee, after which an examination will be taken. The selection of candidates will be done on the basis of the exam results.”

She further explained, “Whenever there is a regular appointment, the roster needs to be cleared beforehand. The roster for these hirings has been cleared. Now the universities will send their requirements to the JSSC, after which the examination will be conducted after taking out advertisements.

When asked about the time by which the advertisement regarding the same will be taken out, she said, “We are trying to take them out at the earliest. It may happen in a couple of months.”

Meanwhile, several useless posts have also been abolished in many universities. On the other hand, there are many posts, where the posts will automatically end as soon as the current working employees retire. Sources have also claimed that since 1983-84, there has been no regular appointment of employees in the state.

On the other hand, the state government has reduced many sanctioned posts in seven universities of the state. Of these, Sido-Kanhu Murmu University earlier had 391 posts sanctioned. These have been reduced to 316. Presently 246 posts are to be appointed in the university. Of these, 156 posts are to be filled by promotion. Similarly, almost half of the sanctioned posts in all the universities of the state are to be filled by promotion.

Meanwhile, at Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee University, 10 out of the total of 53 posts have been removed. The roster of 43 posts at the university has been cleared. Similarly, the roster of about 100 posts has been cleared at Nilambar-Pitamber University. The roster of about 124 posts has been cleared at Vinoba Bhave University. Of these, there are 81 posts of LDC.

Of these, the posts which will have direct recruitment include LDC, Store Keeper, PTI, Assistant Librarian, Compounder, Shorter, Stenographer, Section Cutter, Curator, Draftsman, Budget & Accounts Officer, and Internal Auditor; while in case of direct recruitment, Librarian, Accountant, Assistant, Auditor and UDC will be filled after the five-year promotion of staff; and Head Assistant, Head Accountant, Stenographer- 1, Accountant & Auditor after the three-year promotion of staff.

The universities that will be soon hiring the non-teaching staff include Vinoba Bhave University, Hazaribagh; Kolhan University, Chaibasa and Neelambar-Pitamber University, Medininagar which have been established over time since the establishment of Ranchi University. Meanwhile, Ranchi College which has been upgraded to Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee University will also be hiring non-teaching staff.

Binod Bihari Mahato Koyalanchal University, Dhanbad which was carved out of Vinoba Bhave University and its parent university along with Ranchi University will also be hiring soon. Now the employees in the university will get promotions only after three to five years of regular service. Earlier, employees were given promotions only after the completion of seven years of service.
