Islamabad, Feb 5: At least five people were injured in an explosion near the Quetta Police Lines area of Pakistan on Sunday, officials said. The blast occurred close to the FC Mussa checkpoint, according to the Pakistani media.
The explosion reportedly occurred in a secure area close to the Quetta Police headquarters and the Quetta Cantonment entrance.
According to Dawn.com, the injured people have been transported to the Civil Hospital in Quetta by Edhi employee Zeeshan Ahmed, who is in charge of the rescue effort on the scene.
He claimed that the scene has been sealed off and that police and emergency crews have arrived.
The attack comes days after a Taliban suicide bomber in Pakistan’s unrest-ridden northwest Peshawar city blew himself up in a mosque full of worshippers during afternoon prayers on Monday, killing at least 100 people and injuring more than 150 others, including policemen.
Further details awaited.
