Jamshedpur, Feb 17: A nine-member team of the Income Tax department on Friday came over to the office of the Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) at Sakchi, creating flutter among the civic body officials.

The I-T team had reportedly dropped in at the civic body office for making an assessment of TDS, something which had never been heard of there in the JNAC.

Special officer, JNAC, Sanjay Kumar did not reply despite several calls being made to him over his cellphone.

A senior official of the civic body, however, claimed it to be a routine affair and the IT officials keep visiting the civic body office intermittently.

Sources who are apprised of the functioning of the JNAC said that the IT sleuths may look into, among other things, revenue generated through the parking tender and also into the revenue accrued from the penalty paid by the building owners for constructing additional floors in deviation of the approved building plan.
