Daltonganj, April 11: Pipra Tarn police in Palamu arrested a hafiz of a Madrasa at Hotwar in Palamu district and recovered a desi katta on Monday night in the presence of the magistrate.
Hafiz is a cleric who recites the holy scriptures of Islam. The hafiz has been identified as Nadeem Ansari of Loharssi village. He used to live in one of the two rooms of the Madrasa.
A K Mahatha, inspector of police Panki has confirmed the arrest of Ansari and recovery of a desi katta.
Police acted meticulously as they took a magistrate alongside for raid and recovery of a desi katta from a hafiz of the Madrasa who was immediately taken into custody. Ansari has been remanded in judicial custody today, said police.
As the locale of the illicit arms, a desi katta here was with a hafiz of a Madrasa and it is Ramadan month, police understanding the delicacy of the situation first requisitioned for the magistrate and subsequently upon deputing of the magistrate reached Madrasa and laid hands on the desi katta and the accused Nadeem Ansari.
The action of the police has been described as transparent and neutral. They took with them a junior engineer N K Mehta as a magistrate on duty along with an official person to assist the magistrate Khurshid Alam.
