Jamshedpur, April 11: Paramilitary forces, Rapid Action Force (RAP) are still deployed in the area, though situation in the trouble-torn Shastrinagar in Kadma limped back to normalcy.

No untoward incident was reported from Shastrinagar on Monday and in the intervening night of Tuesday during which the police continued to carry out raids in and outside of the locality for the arrest of those indulged in fanning the communal clash.

As of now over 80 persons have been taken into custody by the police after the latter identified the former through the CCTV footage and from the investigation.

While one of the arrested persons, Abhay Singh has already been lodged in the Ghaghidih central jail, preparation for forwarding others to judicial custody is on.

The deputy commissioner, Vijay Jadhav and senior SP, Prabhat Kumar are constantly monitoring the situation in Shastrinagar even as the residents of the area have resumed their daily chores of life.

Interestingly, while the RAF jawans are still deployed in the troubled Shastrinagar locality, the civic body Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) and utility company, Jusco on Monday carried out an anti-encroachment drive there for paving the way for a road-widening project.

The JNAC functionaries removed about a dozen unathorised shops which had become a hurdle in the way of the road-widening project at the stretch along the troubled area for a long time.

A simmering communal tension between members of a temple committee and people belonging to the ‘minority’ community since Saturday had flared up on Sunday, leading the police and district administration to successfully control it immediately.

A senior administrative officer revealed that the prohibitory order under Section 144 of the CrPC will remain imposed in Shastrinagar and the RAF deployment in place until the situation does not get completely normal.
