Ranchi, 21 April: Department of Mass Communication of the Central University of Jharkhand celebrated National Public Relations Day today in collaboration with the Public Relations Society of India (PRSI) Ranchi Chapter. On this occasion, a special lecture was organized on the theme of “G20 and Indian values: PR perspective”. Ms Shalini Verma, Deputy Director IPRD, Govt. of Jharkhand was the main Speaker. While speaking in the programme, Ms Verma highlighted how politeness and correctness in communication are of utmost importance in the PR profession. She also emphasized that a PR person should be well versed in all 21st century skills along with being an expert in relationship building. Smt. Verma also shared her views that the G20 presidency is a great opportunity to promote India’s vision for inclusive development and innovation along with our cultural inheritance and ideology.
In her welcome speech, Ms Rashmi Verma briefed about the history of the Public Relation Society of India and National PR Day. She also discussed the motto of ‘G20: One Earth, One Family, One Future’ and how ‘Vasudev Kutumbkam’ is related to the PR profession. While welcoming the Chief Guest, Prof Dev Vrat Singh, Chairman of PRSI Ranchi Chapter shared his views on the Indian presidency of G20 and elaborated on how governmental PR is playing a crucial role in connecting people and government. Dr Amrit Kumar, Assistant Professor, Department of Mass Communication, CUJ also expressed the importance of the PR profession for society.
Dr Rajesh Kumar highlighted the long-term association of the Department of Mass Communication and IPRD through various programs. Dr Sudhir Kumar, Head, Department of Mass Communication, Amity University and Executive Member PRSI Ranchi Chapter also expressed views and defined PR as human engineering. This event was attended by Dr Sudarshan Yadav, Assistant Professor, Pankaj Jain, APRO IPRD, journalists Devanand Sinha, Sudha Sinha, Sourav and all the research scholars and students of the department.
