Ranchi, April 21: The BJP leaders are ready to face Jharkhand Police’s question session scheduled tomorrow at the Dhurwa Thana.

The leaders who have been called for questioning include BJP state president and Rajya Sabha member Deepak Prakash, Ranchi MLA C.P. Singh, Hatia MLA Naveen Jaiswal and Kanke MLA Samri Lal besides co-media in-charge Ashok Baraik.

A day before the interrogation, the party issued a press release expressing its commitment to turn up before investigating the incident of a clash between well-armed Jharkhand Police and empty- handed BJP workers at Dhurwa roundabout on April 11 during party’s ‘Hemant Hatao’ programme.

“The state government wants to crush the sentiments of the people with police repression. Organising movement is people’s right in democracy. I along with MLA CP Singh, Naveen Jaiswal, Samri Lal will go to the Dhurwa police station to face questions of the investigating officer. We will answer all the questions in a constitutional way,” Prakash said.

Prakash said: “The secretariat gherao programme organized by the state BJP on April 11 has completely exposed the oppressive thinking of the Hemant government. This government treats those agitating against it like terrorists and traitors. To cover up its failures, this government has become tyrannical. That’s why this government imposes serious crime sections on the leaders who are doing peaceful agitation in a democratic way, sends notices in a hurry and calls the police station for enquiry.”

Speaking on such acts of the Hemant government, Prakash said that the BJP is not afraid of lawsuits. “According to public sentiments, BJP is determined to expose the corruption prevailing in the state government from the assembly to the road,” he said.

Praskash said his leaders are not afraid of police stations. “BJP leaders and workers have not got allotment of mines and minerals in their name by misusing any position and governance, have not grabbed any tribal land, have not looted any stone, sand, have not done liquor scams, Dalits’ land has not been looted, women, farmers, youth, backward people have not been harassed, then what is the fear,” he said.

The BJP state president, justifying the party’s April 11 action said: “The BJP has raised its voice against loot, corruption and appeasement playing its role of a strong and aware opposition and it cannot be punished for that role.”
