Ranchi, May 10: A poverty-stricken boy from Bihar today attempted to sell his kidney for treatment of his ailing mother in a private hospital in the Jharkhand capital.

RIMS Neurosurgery department doctor, Dr Vikas, informed this to Lagatar 24.com saying after he came to know about the boy, he restrained him from doing so and assured proper help in treatment of his mother.

“The boy was from Gaya in Bihar. He identified himself as Dipanshu. He said his father had passed away after his birth and he wanted to sell his kidney for his mother’s treatment,” Dr Vikas said, informing about the kidney sale attempt.

The doctor said the boy works in a hotel in Ranchi leaving his mother and sister at home. He said a man known to him at a private hospital sent the boy to him last night and he let the boy know that selling a kidney is a crime.

Dr Vikas also tweeted video footage of the boy saying under which circumstances he had planned selling the kidney.  Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar and Bihar police have been tagged in the tweet to verify the authenticity of the boy and save him from going into the wrong hands.

Asked the doctor regarding the boy’s ailment, he said: “The boy’s version suggested that his mother’s leg bone has broken.”

Dr Vikas said he sent the boy to Gaya and asked him to come with his mother.
