Ranchi, May 13: The National Lok Adalat organised by the Jharkhand State Legal Services Authority (JHALSA) across the state today settled more than 7.30 lakh the matter before their entry in the court.
The National Lok Adalat across the state was held under the aegis of the National Legal Services authority.
JHALSA Executive Chairman Justice S Chandrashekhar informed this at his Doranda office in the Jharkhand capital saying with today’s figure number of cases the state legal service authority settled before its entry in the country rose to approximately 11.28 lakh this year as in the previous National Lok Adalat around 3.98 lakh cases were settled.
“All these cases are pre-litigation cases. It means those cases which would have definitely reached before the court had they been not settled. Thus, we can say that we have helped reduce the burden of court by disposing of all those matters which had potential to reach before it,” Justice Chandrashekhar said.
He said the figure is more than what was achieved during the last lok Adalat.
“Last year JHALSA had disposed of around 9.45 lakh pre litigation cases. This year it crossed last year’s figure within half of a year,” he said.
Apart from this, the executive chairman said, “ JHALSA helped dispose of 63463 cases pending before the courts and ensured benefit to 3357832 beneficiaries of the government schemes.
The cases, the executive chairman said, included bank recovery matters, criminal compoundable offences, electricity bill disputes, labour disputes besides land acquisition cases, motor accident claim tribunal cases, matrimonial disputes, negotiable instruments Act cases, other civil cases, revenue cases, service matters, water bills and similar others.
Justice Chandrashekhar, on the occasion, said that JHALSA has constituted a village level child protection committee (VLCPC) and is soon going to organise a training programme of its members in coordination with Bachpan Bachao Andolan.
