Jamshedpur, May 16: Several parts of Jharkhand especially northeast, southern and central is expected to witness light rain and thunderstorm activity today, said a weatherman at IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre.
Weathermen said that the prevailing weather condition would help in triggering Nor’wester activity with high wind speed
Last evening several places including Jamshedpur experienced sudden Nor’wester activity which brought the much needed respite from the gruelling heat.
Jamshedpur witnessed a wind speed of around 60 Kmph. The gusty wind uprooted trees in several places and damaged billboards and hoardings.
The local IMD observatory at Jamshedpur recorded rainfall of around 15 mm.
Statistics revealed that dry weather prevailed in most parts of the state in the past 24- hours.
The highest maximum temperature of 42.0°C was recorded at Daltonganj while the lowest minimum temperature of 22.8°C was recorded at Deoghar.
The Meteorological Centre forecast suggested light rain with thunderstorms at isolated places over north-eastern parts of the state tomorrow, Wednesday.
According to weathermen, rain and thunderstorm activity would continue to take place at some place or the other in the next three to four days.
