Dehradun, May 25: While launching the Delhi-Dehradun Vande Bharat Express via video conference on Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that the world recognises how India has grown its economy in recent years despite numerous obstacles.

A hundred per cent electrification of the state’s railway tracks was also inaugurated by the prime minister.

The first such train for Uttarakhand speeds up travel between Dehradun and the national capital from six hours and ten minutes to four and a half hours by providing passengers with state-of-the-art facilities.

“Global tourists want to visit India to see the country and understand it. This is a great opportunity for Uttarakhand,” the prime minister said at the launch.

Modi stated that the entire world looks to India with great hope when speaking at the flag-off event, he said this in regards to his three-nation tour from which he had just returned.

“The world appreciates the way India has strengthened its economy over the past few years despite various challenges,” he added.

The prime minister also cited a number of rail and road initiatives the BJP’s “double-engine government” had implemented in Uttarakhand to improve connectivity.

He emphasised the initiatives being taken to improve the amenities for Chardham pilgrims through rebuilding projects in Kedarnath and Badrinath, as well as those intended to improve the state’s health infrastructure.

Pushkar Singh Dhami, the chief minister of Uttarakhand, expressed his gratitude to the prime minister for providing the state with yet another facility that will improve communication between Delhi and the state’s capital.
