Jamshedpur, May 31: Bodies of a lover couple were found hanging from a tree at a village under Bodam thana area in Patamda about 30 km away from here on Wednesday morning.
It was a Mahua tree in a small forest patch in Bota panchayat where the bodies were found hanging, triggering curiosity among the surrounding areas.
The bodies were identified as that of Chinta Singh Sardar (23) and Kuni Birua (18), both residents of Kutimakuli village in Bota panchayat.
As the Bodam police got to know about the hanging bodies, a police party rushed to the spot and brought them down with the help of the local residents and got them identified immediately.
Sub-inspector Dilip Majhi of the Bodam Thana said that the deceased were reportedly lovers, but it is yet to be established whether this is a case of suicides or murder.
“We have shifted the bodies to MGM medical college mortuary for postmortem and are also talking to the members of the bereaved families to get the background information so that the reason behind the twin deaths could be known,” said the sub-inspector while talking to lagatar24.com.
According to a police official, both the deceased were tribal but belonged to separate sects.
“Maybe they were lovers and wanted to marry between themselves, but being of separate sects, their respective families might have objected to the marriage, leading the lover couple to end their lives this way, ” said the official.
