Jharkhand badminton teams announced for SGFI national championship

Dhanbad, June 2: Jharkhand boys and girls under-19 badminton teams were announced for the School Games Federation of India (SGFI) scheduled to be held at Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh) from June 6 to June 8.

Giving this information, state coordinator Mohit Miras Minj said that the five-member boys and five-member girls team of the state were selected on the basis of performance in the trial championship held at Thakur Viswanath Sahdeo Stadium, Khelgaon, Hotwar Ranchi on  Wednesday.

The selected players are (girls’ team) – Ananya Singh (Ranchi), Yogita Bora (Ranchi), Jasintha Bilung (Gumla), Shruti (Dhanbad) and Rani Priya (Bokaro).

Boys team- Priyanshu Tirkey (Gumla), Harshit Raj (Ranchi), Emmanuel Jaimashi Kujur (Ranchi), Niraj Kesri (Ranchi) and Sachin Gope  (Ranchi).

The official said the teams would leave for Gwalior on Saturday from Ranchi. The coordinator Mohit  Mirj expressed hope that both boys’ and girls’ teams would perform better in the national championship at Gwalior.
