Maharashtra’s Atharva Sharma bags double crown in AITA tennis tournament

Jamshedpur, June 10: Maharashtra’s Atharva Sharma bagged double crown at the Tata Steel AITA Men’s National Ranking 1 Lac Prize Money Tennis Tournament 2023, held at the synthetic courts of the JRD Tata Sports Complex.

Top-seeded Sharma did not have to sweat much to drub the younger Arnav Vijay Paparkar in the finals of the Men’s Singles category as the former won by a convincing 6-2, 6-1.

After securing 20 national ranking points for singles, Sharma went ahead with Arnav, partnering him to also clinch the Men’s Doubles title as they beat the duo of Pratyush Mohanty of Odisha and Shourya Manik of Chhattisgarh by a close margin of 6-4, 7-5.

Chanakya Chaudhary, VP Corporate Services, Tata Steel was present at the closing ceremony as the chief guest, last evening.

He handed over the trophies and cheques to the winners.
