New Delhi, June 10: The NCP (Nationalist Congress Party) vice-president Praful Patel and Supriya Sule, the daughter of party leader Sharad Pawar, have been elected as the party’s working presidents. The party was founded by Sharad Pawar and P. A. Sangma in 1999, and at its 25th anniversary, Sharad Pawar made the announcement.

Praful Patel will oversee Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Goa, while Supriya Sule will be in charge of Maharashtra, Haryana, Punjab, Women Youth and LokSabha Coordination. Ajit Pawar, an influential member of the NCP, was there when the news was made.

Veteran politician Sharad Pawar retracted his resignation as the party’s national president last month after emotional party members raised an objection and demonstrated against it.A panel of NCP members convened to discuss Pawar’s offer rejected it on May 5 and encouraged him to stay on as the party’s president.

“I can’t disrespect your sentiments. Due to your love, I am respecting the demand that was made to me to withdraw my resignation and the resolution that was passed by senior NCP leaders. I withdraw my decision to step down as the national president of the NCP,” Pawar had said.

Sunil Tatkare, the NCP’s national general secretary, is in charge of the departments for farmers, minorities, West Bengal, and Odisha. Nanda Shastri has been named the Delhi NCP chief, Sharad Pawar announced.
