Dhemaji, July 9: Since the current flood wave has affected roughly 18,000 people, the flood situation in Assam’s Dhemaji district has gotten worse. Floodwaters have flooded 48 villages under four revenue circles in the district, submerging 530.07 hectares of cropland.

The water levels of various rivers and Brahmaputra River tributaries are rising as a result of the recent torrential rains, flooding new areas of the district.

Patients and hospital personnel are preparing for several challenges as flood waters have now reached the Silapathar Model Hospital premises.

Numerous villages, including Jamuguri, Siyari, Uluwani and Tatiguri, have been affected by the Dikari River’s floodwaters, along with many others.

Nearly 8,000 people have been impacted in the Gogamukh Revenue Circle area, while 7,400 people have been impacted in the Sissoborgaon Revenue Circle area, according to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA).

Minister of the Assam Water Resources Department, Pijush Hazarika paid a visit to the Dhemaji district on Saturday and examined the Jiadhal and Gai River embankments.

The Brahmaputra River is flowing above the danger level mark at Neamatighat in the Jorhat district, Nanglamuraghat for the Disang River and Sivasagar for the Dikhou River, according to the ASDMA flood report.

The latest round of flooding has affected almost 30,000 people in six districts and one state subdivision and the flood waters flooded 1263.07 hectares of agricultural land.

In the flood-affected regions, 1,479.27 hectares of cropland have been drowned. The flood has also had an impact on 24,261 domestic animals and poultry.

Assam’s flood situation has deteriorated once more after gradually becoming better a week ago.

The current flood wave has affected Lakhimpur, Dhemaji, Charaideo, Jorhat, Karimganj, Kamrup, and Biswanath Sub-Division.
