Daltonganj, July 9: Palamu police have taken the wind out of the sail of the notorious gangster Sujit Sinha when it held his elder brother Arun Kumar Sinha from Raipur in Chhattisgarh.

Arun was remanded in judicial custody on Saturday in Daltonganj. Sujit Sinha is already in a jail in Jharkhand.

The gangster’s brother Arun was living with his family in Raipur managing and investing the gangster’s illegal wealth in different avenues.

Arun’s arrest was quite spectacular. Palamu police who went to Raipur to nab him knew it well that the gangster’s brother would not be naive to offer his arrest and so the police hit upon a novel way to get him.

Assistant Superintendent of Police and SDPO Rishabha Garg said the police acted as a decoy playing the role of a delivery boy of some online shopping mart and here the gangster’s brother Arun just fell into the trap.

Gangster Sujit Sinha has roped in dubious people outside India who give calls for extortion here in Palamu and Jharkhand.

One such international call had come to a construction company man at NH 75 under the Pipra police station in Palamu for extortion last week who was shot in his leg surviving two more shots which missed him. The call appeared to be from Malaysia.

SP Chandan Kumar Sinha said the police have found trace of international calls but he politely declined to make any reference to any foreign country from where such calls are purported to be coming from, for extortion in Jharkhand.

On being asked as to how important catch is this brother Arun of the gangster Sujit to which the SP said, “On the surface, our boys who went to Raipur, Chhattisgarh seized two cell phones of Arun and that might sound a very hackneyed recovery but these two cell phones recovered by our boys are the storage of inflow to illegal wealth and its subsequent investment.”

The SP added, “We have this information that the gangster has made sufficient investment in real estate and that we will try to unfold”.

He declined any more elaboration in regard to the gangster’s investment in real estate just capping it that alleged investment in the real estate is in Jharkhand. He didn’t take the name of any district, not even of Palamu.
