Ranchi, July 25: A city court sentenced a seven-year rigorous imprisonment and imposed Rs 10,000 fine on a person who hatched a conspiracy to rob off Rs 1 crore from his friend. Apart from the person, five others whom the man had used for robbery were also given the same punishment.
Additional judicial commissioner Dinesh Kumar passed the order today after hearing arguments on the quantum of punishment from all sides. The conviction order was passed on July 22 in this connection.
The list of convicts sentenced includes Anmol Singhania, Wasim Ahmed, Najmi Hasan, Manoj Kumar Bhagat, Jasim Ahmed and Zulfekar alias Raja Khan.
The case arose on April 12, 2021, after a Mahua dealer Shubham Agrawal was robbed off Rs one crore at Obaria Road under the Jagannathpur police station and an FIR was registered in this connection. After the police started a probe, the name of Singhania surfaced as the main conspirator. Police recovered Rs 90 lakh from the possession of the accused and arrested all of them.
Additional Public Prosecutor Parmanand Yadav was the prosecution advocate in the case.
