Daltonganj, Aug 2: There is a very tepid response to the admission in the first-year MBBS courses here in the Medinirai Medical College for the session 2023-24.

The Medical Assessment and Rating Board for the National Medical Commission has allowed this medical college to take 100 admissions only in the first-year MBBS courses for the session 2023 -24.

The distribution of seats for admission is 15 seats for the central quota, 2 seats for the central nominees and 83 seats for the other students.

It’s the third day and the admission in the central quota draws nil, said the faculty member Dr Atul Prakash.

Prakash said in the remaining days left one can’t expect a boom for admission in the central quota here. He apprehended that more and more seats for the central quota are feared to remain vacant in the first round here in the MMCH Daltonganj.

The last day of the admission of the central quota is August 4.

Sources said the faculty crunch in this medical college is its bane as the deficiency in faculties counts for around 67 per cent which in another sense means the students of this medical college are taught by just 33 per cent available faculties.
