Jamshedpur, Aug 7: A 26-year-old youth was shot at and injured by an illicit neighbour under the Ulidih thana area in Mango on Monday morning.
Identified as Manish Yadav, the victim has sustained bullet injuries in his shoulder and lower abdomen, resulting in his serious condition.
Manish was first rushed to the MGM medical college hospital from where he was shifted to Tata Main Hospital for better treatment.
The gunshot attack took place at Ramnagar Chowk on road No 5 in Sankosai under Ulidih Thana at about 10 am today.
Four-five youths were creating a nuisance under the influence of liquor in front of Manish’s house near Ramnagar Chowk, leading the victim to object to such an act. On being objected, one of the drunkards, Vikrant Kumar, fished out a pistol and fired indiscriminately at Manish, causing two shots to hit him.
Having fired the shots, Vikrant and others fled the scene, leaving the victim in a pool of blood.
A youth, Kundan Kumar, who was at the spot at the time the incident took place said that criminal elements like Vikrant and Vipul create nuisance at Ramnagar Chowk on a regular basis.
“These youths who are also residents of Ramnagar like Manish remain indulged in manufacturing illicit country-made liquor at Sankosai for business purposes. We had complained about such activities to the Ulidih thana several times, but the police do not take any action against the liquor mafia at all. As a result of the police inaction, the emboldened anti-social elements launched the gun-shot attack, ” said Kundan while talking to the media.
Ulidih thana OC, Sonu Kumar said those who launched the gun-shot attack are neighbours of the victim.
“The firing incident took place in sequel to old enmity. We have identified those involved in the attack. They would be arrested soon, ” claimed the OC while talking to lagatar24.com.
