Ranchi, Aug.21: The Jharkhand High Court today paved the path for trial against 22 in a case of rape involving State Health Minister Banna Gupta’s brother Guddu Gupta, Jharkhand police deputy superintendent of police Ajay Kerketta and police inspector Imdad Ansari besides 19 others.
A single bench of Justice Sanjay Prasad issued the order, rejecting the petition filed by the rape accused demanding stay on the trial against them in the district court.
The district court had ordered the trial after a minor in her statement before the court on January 19, 2018 accused 22 of raping her at Mango Sahara City in Jamshedpur. The minor knocked the district court’s door after the accused persons were given clean chit by the police as well as the CID during the Raghubar Das regime.
Advocate A.K. Kashyap appeared on behalf of the accused while advocate Devesh Ajmani appeared on behalf of the victim in the court during hearing of the petition.
