Dhanbad, Aug 31: Kunal Anand, a class IX student of Delhi Public School (DPS) Bokaro has clinched a silver medal at the prestigious Singapore Asian Schools’ Math Olympiad (SASMO).
A DPS official said that Kunal Anand has bagged the Perfect Scorer Award with a silver medal and a certificate of state rank 1 and AIR 9.
Kunal has also been selected to represent India in the prestigious Global Hanoi Open Mathematics Competition (HOMC) 2022-23 by securing AIR 1 in the Junior Group.
“ This prodigious achievement has not only brought honour to his family and school but has also brought pride to the entire state of Jharkhand,” the official said.
Approximately 45,000 students from 39 countries including India, Indonesia, Iran, Japan, Australia, Azerbaijan, Brazil, Cambodia, Canada, China, Russia, Singapore, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Turkey, UK, United Arab Emirates etc. participated in this competition.
Kunal Anand was the sole participant from Jharkhand. The event was a platform for young mathematical minds to showcase their skills and knowledge.
Elated with his success, Kunal Anand said that this win motivated him to improve himself. “All this was possible due to the continuous efforts and the time my parents and teachers devoted to enhancing my confidence “, he said.
Appreciating Kunal’s achievement, Dr. AS Gangwar, principal, DPS Bokaro said that he feels immensely proud of Kunal for representing their school, state and country at the international level and winning accolades. “DPS Bokaro has been nurturing the hidden talents of its students and providing them with the right platform to make them successful global citizens”, he said
