Dhanbad, Aug 31: Police arrested Jharkhand State Kick Boxing Association general secretary Bipul Mishra under the POCSO Act after a girl player lodged a complaint against him for doing wrong activities for the last one year.
The police took action on the basis of an FIR lodged at the Dhanbad Mahila police station on August 27 and arrested him on August 30 from his Chirkunda (Dhanbad)-based house. A police official said he was released in the late evening after interrogation.
The complainant, who also belongs to the same area, has alleged that Bipul Kumar (who is also a trainer of kick boxing) had last year done a wrong activity with her at Darjeeling where she was taking training.
He again tried to do the same act during the state championship held in Ranchi from August 25 to 27. She informed her parents about it and they filed a complaint at the Dhanbad Mahila police station in this regard.
Mahila police station in-charge Kumari Bishakha told media persons that the statement of the girl player has been recorded. Accused Bipul Mishra is being interrogated and a senior officer is also probing the allegation. If the allegation is found true, the accused would be sent to jail, she added.
Official sources said that the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Arvind Kumar Binha also interrogated Bipul Mishra at the Mahila police station.
Bipul Mishra has been in controversy since the state championship held in Ranchi. A participant of Dhanbad, Aditya Kumar Chourasia, had complained that Bipul Mishra threatened and thrashed him during the championship at Harivansh Tana Bhagat Indoor Stadium Mega Sports Complex Ranchi. He even lodged a complaint at the Khelgaon police station in this regard.
On this issue, former Jharkhand Olympic president BC Thakur and present working president SM Hashmi traded charges.
However, BC Thakur, who is the president of the Jharkhand State Kick Boxing Association, has set up a committee to probe the allegation against Bipul Mishra.
