Dhanbad, Sept 23: Retired IFS officer RP Singh of Ranchi today advised the techies not to rely only on bookish knowledge and take active part in extracurricular activities also.
Singh, who was addressing BIT Sindri 1st year students in their induction programme as chief guest on Saturday said that there is an acute need for this generation to come forward and take initiatives for conservation of environment, optimal use of water resources and practice water harvesting to deal with burning issues of environment.
“ Hard work, perseverance, and determination are the keys to success. Pay attention to extracurricular activities and join different clubs of students and not rely only on bookish knowledge to pursue their career,” said Singh while motivating the newly admitted techies of the institution..
During his address, the retired IFS officer also advised the students to adopt vegetarian diet and avoid eating salt, sugar and maida as far as possible.
The BIT Sindri senior faculty members said that students displayed tremendous enthusiasm in listening RP Singh. On the occasion, BIT director Prof Pankaj Rai presented a token of appreciation to Singh while acknowledging his contribution to the orientation programme’s success.
Earlier, BIT Sindri director Prof Pankaj Rai, Prof RK Verma, HoD physics cum general warden welcomed RP Singh and formally introduced him to students of the institution with shedding light on his achievements and accomplishments.
Prof. R K. Verma proposed vote of thanks in the induction programme.
