Jamshedpur, Oct 3: In a breakthrough against crime, police nabbed a notorious criminal in an anti-crime checking drive under the Burmamines Thana area late on Monday night.
Identified as Bhanu Majhi, the criminal was moving around with a loaded pistol along with two others on a stolen bike in search of a rival whom the trio wanted to kill.
At the sight of a police checking set up near Star Talkies, two of the three managed to escape, but Bhanu who was riding the bike was caught.
On searching him, the police found a loaded pistol in his possession. The bike was also established to be stolen.
Revealing about the breakthrough, Additional Superintendent of Police, Sumit Kumar Agrawal said that during interrogation Bhanu confessed that he wanted to kill his rival and that is why he was on the prowl along with his associates.
“Bhanu Majhi is a notorious criminal. 11 cases are pending against him in various police stations in Jamshedpur and other districts of the state. In Bokaro, he was arrested in connection with a murder case. But presently he was wanted in an Arms Act case registered with the Kadma Thana,” said Agarwal while talking to the newsmen at a press conference on Tuesday.
The Additional SP said that Bhanu was lodged in Ghaghidhih central jail and had come out of the prison on bail in May this year, adding that the police were searching for the two who escaped arrest in the anti-crime checking.
