New Delhi, Oct 12: Preparations have begun to bring back Indian citizens stranded in Israel. It is reported that the Indian government has initiated Operation Ajay for this purpose. Under this operation, Indian citizens stuck in Israel will be repatriated.

According to the information, the central government has established a 24-hour operational control room. Currently, approximately 18,000 Indian citizens reside in Israel.

Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar posted on social media that Operation Ajay has been initiated for the return of our willing citizens from Israel. It should be noted that Jaishankar is currently on a trip to Sri Lanka. He has mentioned that special charter flights and other arrangements are also being made for the management of these operations.

Launching #OperationAjay to facilitate the return from Israel of our citizens who wish to return.

Special charter flights and other arrangements being put in place.

Fully committed to the safety and well-being of our nationals abroad.

— Dr. S. Jaishankar (@DrSJaishankar) October 11, 2023

The process of bringing the first group of Indian citizens back from Israel via a special flight commenced today, Thursday. It should be noted that immediately after the announcement made by Jaishankar, the Indian embassy in Israel sent an email to the registered Indian citizens on Thursday for the special flight. Notably, a few days ago, as part of their conversation over the phone, Prime Minister Modi had expressed concern about the safety of stranded Indian citizens to Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

News is emerging about heavy airstrikes by Israel in Gaza. Besides the United States, several countries have openly expressed their support for Israel. Muslim countries are seen showing support for Gaza (Palestine). There is a complete power outage in Gaza, and the entire region is encircled by Israeli soldiers. So far over 3,000 people have been reported killed on both sides, and thousands are injured.
