Mumbai: Businessman Raj Kundra, who has been under investigation for his alleged involvement in a 2021 pornography production case, is set to appear before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in Mumbai on Monday morning at 11 am. This follows a series of raids conducted by the ED on Friday at multiple locations in Mumbai and Uttar Pradesh, including Mr. Kundra and his wife, actress Shilpa Shetty’s residence.
The raids are connected to a case where Raj Kundra was accused of producing and distributing pornographic content through mobile applications. He was previously arrested by the Mumbai Crime Branch under provisions of the Indian Penal Code and the Information Technology Act but was later granted bail.
Statement from Raj Kundra’s Legal Team
A source close to the investigation revealed, “Raj Kundra has been summoned by the ED and will appear before them tomorrow in the pornography case.”
Meanwhile, Shilpa Shetty’s lawyer has clarified that the actress has no involvement in the matter. “Reports of ED raids on Mrs. Shilpa Shetty Kundra are false and misleading. She has no connection to any such offence. The case pertains solely to Mr. Raj Kundra, who is cooperating with the investigation,” the lawyer stated.
Legal Action Against Media Misreporting
The lawyer also warned against the misuse of Shilpa Shetty’s name and imagery in media coverage. “Strict action will be taken against irresponsible journalism that falsely implicates Mrs. Shetty by sharing her videos or pictures in relation to this case,” he added.
The ED’s investigation comes as part of a broader probe into allegations of money laundering and financial irregularities linked to the porn production case, where Kundra is a prime suspect.
