New Delhi: As the countdown to 2025 begins, cities across India have implemented strict measures to ensure safe New Year’s Eve celebrations. With massive crowds expected at popular locations, authorities have stepped up security, traffic management, and enforcement against drink-driving.

Restrictions and Arrangements in Delhi

Delhi Police have deployed over 20,000 personnel, including paramilitary forces, to maintain safety during the celebrations. Key measures include:

•Connaught Place Restrictions: Entry for private and public transport will be restricted from 8 PM on December 31. Rajiv Chowk Metro Station exit gates will close at 9 PM.

•Enhanced Security: Key hubs like Connaught Place, Khan Market, and popular hotels will have heightened security. Monitoring will also extend to India Gate, Kartavya Path, and places of worship.

•Strict Penalties: Public drinking, overspeeding, and reckless driving are strictly prohibited. Ambulances, fire tenders, and bomb disposal squads will be on standby.

•Traffic Measures: Road closures around India Gate and Connaught Place begin at 7 PM, with alternative routes provided. Vehicle stickers and restricted zones will be enforced.

Delhi Metro Restrictions:

•Post-9 PM, Rajiv Chowk station will permit entry but restrict exits. QR tickets for this station will be unavailable after 8 PM.

Traffic and Security Measures in Other Cities

Gurugram:

•Checkpoints operational from 9 PM to monitor drink-driving.

•Traffic diversions near MG Road and Cyber Hub from 6 PM.

Kolkata:

•Public celebrations allowed until 1 AM with strict monitoring starting 8 PM.

•Park Street and Esplanade diversions effective from 5 PM.

Hyderabad:

•Random drink-driving checks from 9 PM.

•Pubs and restaurants to close by 1 AM.

•Traffic changes near Jubilee Hills and HITEC City from 8 PM.

Advisory for Celebrations

Authorities across the country are urging citizens to:

•Follow traffic and public safety guidelines.

•Avoid drink-driving and reckless behavior.

•Cooperate with security personnel to ensure a smooth celebration.

The measures aim to ensure public safety and an orderly transition into 2025. Commuters and revelers are advised to plan their movements accordingly and enjoy the festivities responsibly.
