Patna: Dense fog continues to disrupt train services across northern India, causing significant delays for the second consecutive day. The low visibility, especially during morning and late evening hours, has hampered operations, leaving passengers stranded and schedules in disarray.

According to the Danapur control room, the New Delhi-Rajendra Nagar Tejas Rajdhani Express (12310) arrived at Patna Junction eight hours behind schedule on Sunday. Similarly, the Sampoorna Kranti Express (12393), also originating from New Delhi, was delayed by seven hours. The New Delhi-Rajgir Shramjeevi Express (12392) reported a delay of five hours.

Other long-distance trains, including the New Delhi-Jayanagar Express (12562) and New Delhi-Saharsa Vaishali Express (12554), experienced delays of eight to ten hours, particularly on routes passing through Gorakhpur and north Bihar.

Several other trains heading to and from key stations such as Patna, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, and Gaya were delayed, railway sources confirmed.

Railways Issue Precautionary Measures

In light of the adverse weather, the railways have advised passengers to verify train schedules via the national enquiry system number 139. A Danapur railway official urged travelers to take necessary precautions, especially in the chilly weather conditions.

Operational Challenges

According to Prayagraj railway division sources, visibility along the Kanpur-DDU route has dropped below 50 meters in several locations, making it difficult for trains to maintain their schedules. Additional personnel have been deployed to ensure passenger safety and manage operations effectively.

Railway officials are closely monitoring the situation to minimize disruptions and ensure smooth functioning despite the ongoing challenges posed by dense fog.
