New Delhi: Addressing a rally in Seelampur as part of the Congress campaign for the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi launched a scathing attack on both the BJP and AAP. Speaking at the event titled “Jai Bapu, Jai Bhim, Jai Samvidhan”, he accused BJP and RSS of systematically destroying the Constitution and spreading hatred, while also targeting Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for unfulfilled promises.
In his fiery speech, Rahul Gandhi criticized the Modi-led NDA government for its focus on empowering billionaires while neglecting the poor. He stated, “Inflation is at its peak. The poor are becoming poorer. Have you ever heard PM Modi or Arvind Kejriwal speak a word against Adani? This is not the India we want. We don’t need a country controlled by billionaires.”
“Ambani and Adani Have Bought the Nation”
Rahul Gandhi alleged that industrialists like Ambani and Adani have gained control over the country’s economy. “Ambani and Adani have purchased the entire nation and dominate all businesses. This government, under the BJP and RSS, is systematically dismantling the Constitution,” he said. Emphasizing his commitment to preserving constitutional values, Gandhi added, “To protect the Constitution, we walked 4,000 kilometers from Kanyakumari to Kashmir during the Bharat Jodo Yatra. Love, not hatred, can defeat the divisive forces in this country.”
Kejriwal’s Governance Under Fire
Targeting Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Gandhi asked, “Do you remember the Delhi under Sheila Dikshit? Kejriwal had promised a clean, corruption-free Delhi, but what is the reality today? Pollution is at alarming levels, and corruption has not disappeared. Like PM Modi, Kejriwal thrives on propaganda and false promises.” He accused AAP of betraying the people’s trust with unfulfilled commitments.
Congress Eyes Revival in Seelampur
Seelampur has traditionally been a Congress stronghold, and the party chose it to kickstart its election campaign in a bid to reconnect with its voter base. Over the years, the Congress vote bank in the region has shifted towards AAP, but the party is now making an aggressive push to reclaim its position.
Observers believe that a strong Congress campaign could turn the election into a three-way contest, increasing the stakes in the upcoming polls. As Gandhi emphasized the legacy of Sheila Dikshit’s tenure, he sought to remind voters of the development-oriented governance Congress once offered to Delhi.
