New Delhi: Former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal launched a scathing attack on the BJP on Sunday, accusing the party of favoring its “billionaire friends” by waiving off massive loans at the expense of taxpayers. Kejriwal asserted that public funds should be directed toward welfare schemes rather than benefiting a select few.

Billionaire Loans Criticized

Addressing a press conference, Kejriwal claimed that the BJP-led central government waived loans amounting to ₹50,000 crore for two billionaires. “This money could have funded Delhi’s electricity, healthcare, and water supply for all,” the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader said.

He contrasted the BJP’s approach with AAP’s governance model, highlighting initiatives like free electricity, 24-hour water supply, accessible healthcare through mohalla clinics, and world-class education facilities.

“A Battle of Ideologies”

Kejriwal emphasized the importance of the upcoming February 5 Delhi Assembly elections, describing them as a fight for ideologies. He urged voters to decide whether public funds should support welfare initiatives or benefit the wealthy.

“The poorest of the poor, even beggars, pay taxes when buying essentials. This money belongs to the public and should be spent on their well-being,” he stated.

Campaigning Intensifies

With elections approaching, political parties are ramping up their efforts to sway voters. While AAP seeks a third consecutive term, the BJP and Congress are determined to challenge its dominance.

The polls will be conducted in a single phase on February 5, and the results are set to be declared on February 8.
