Giridih: In a brazen act, a group of coal thieves assaulted employees of Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) at the company’s CP Siding in the Giridih area on Sunday. The incident took a dramatic turn when one of the culprits initially tried to intimidate the staff by falsely claiming to be an officer from the police’s Special Branch.

The Attack Unfolds

According to information, the confrontation began when some individuals arrived at the CCL siding with the intention of stealing coal. When CCL personnel on duty asked them to leave, one of the men claimed he was from the Special Branch and immediately called his associates to the spot. Shortly after, a larger group of coal thieves arrived at the scene. They then collectively attacked the CCL staff, physically assaulting them.

Police Intervention and Escape

Following the assault, the CCL employees informed their General Manager and Project Officer about the incident. The CCL officials promptly notified the local police. A police team, led by Station House Officer Sanjay Kumar, reached the location to investigate. However, by the time the police arrived, all the criminals involved in the coal theft and the attack had managed to flee the scene.
