Ranchi: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) will record the statements of Izhar Hussain and Akhtar Hussain in jail from July 28 for three consecutive days in connection with the Tetulia land scam. Both brothers are currently lodged in judicial custody over allegations related to a 103-acre land scam in Tetulia.

Court Grants ED Three Days for Interrogation

Initially, the ED had sought court permission to question the accused for a single day. However, due to the extensive nature of the money laundering investigation and evidence involved, the agency filed an application seeking additional time. The PMLA special court accepted the request and granted three days — July 28 to 30 — to complete the interrogation.

Limited Access to Legal Counsel

As per court orders, the accused are allowed to meet their lawyer once a day for a maximum of 15 minutes during the ED questioning period. The court emphasized that this restricted legal access is in line with investigative requirements and legal safeguards.

Background of the Land Scam Case

The Tetulia land scam is currently being probed by both the CID and the ED. The CID initially arrested the Hussain brothers, while the ED is focusing on alleged money laundering linked to the land deal. In an earlier raid, the ED had seized ₹1.25 crore in cash from the Banka residence of the father of Punit Agarwal, a director at Rajbir Construction — a company reportedly linked to the scam.
