Dhanbad: In preparation for President Droupadi Murmu’s participation as chief guest at the 45th convocation ceremony of IIT-ISM Dhanbad on August 1, the district administration has ramped up security and logistical measures. On Monday, Deputy Commissioner Aditya Ranjan and SSP Prabhat Kumar conducted an extensive inspection from the Jharkhand–West Bengal border at Maithon to the event venue.
Traffic, Encroachment and Road Safety Measures Intensified
DC Ranjan gave strict directives for installing barricades at Nirsa Hatiya Modh and penalizing illegally parked vehicles along the route. Efforts to clear encroachments have been intensified, particularly at Barwaddah Kisan Chowk and nearby service roads. Instructions were also issued to repair the Govindpur–Tundi road, carry out cleanliness drives, install proper barricading, and strengthen traffic regulation. Local establishments including car showrooms, hotels, and dhabas were warned against roadside parking.
Detailed Review of Event Arrangements at IIT-ISM
The inspection continued within the IIT-ISM premises, covering the President’s suite, the designated accommodations for the Governor and Chief Minister, exhibition area, photo gallery, stage, green room, media gallery, and all entry–exit points. A thorough security assessment was carried out to ensure smooth conduct of the event. Present during the review were Rural SP Kapil Chaudhary, City SP Ritvik Srivastava, ADM (Law & Order) Hema Prasad, SDO Rajesh Kumar, DTO Diwakar C. Dwivedi, Traffic DSP Arvind Kumar Singh, DSP (Law & Order) Naushad Alam, NHAI officials, and several other police and administrative officers.
