Ranchi: Former Jharkhand Chief Minister, JMM founder, and Rajya Sabha MP Dishom Guru Shibu Soren was given an emotional farewell at the Jharkhand Assembly on Tuesday. Political leaders from across the spectrum gathered to pay tribute to the departed leader.
Nation Mourns as Shibu Soren’s Last Journey Begins
The final procession began from his Morabadi residence with chants of “Veer Shibu Amar Rahein” echoing in the air. As the convoy moved towards the Assembly, thousands gathered along the route to bid farewell. The Assembly complex hosted a solemn tribute ceremony where two minutes of silence were observed. Among those present were Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar, Speaker Rabindra Nath Mahato, Central Minister Sanjay Seth, Leader of Opposition Babulal Marandi, and several ministers including Irfan Ansari, Deepika Pandey Singh, Yogendra Prasad, Sudivya Sonu, and Radhakrishna Kishore. MPs Pappu Yadav, Jual Oram, Derek O’Brien, and Shatabdi Roy also offered tributes.
Final Rites in Nemra Village with National Leaders in Attendance
Shibu Soren’s last rites are scheduled to take place in his ancestral village, Nemra in Ramgarh. Preparations have been finalized. Prominent leaders from across the country are arriving to pay respects. AAP MP Sanjay Raut visited Morabadi to offer his condolences. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge is expected to arrive in Ranchi by 1:45 PM, head to Nemra by 3:30 PM, attend the funeral at 4:00 PM, and return to Ranchi by 5:20 PM before departing for Delhi at 6:30 PM. Bihar’s Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav is also expected to attend the funeral.
