Ranchi: The Jharkhand Police’s emergency response system (Dial 112) has shown significant improvement, now reaching people in an average of 12 minutes and 47 seconds, according to a recent performance analysis report covering the past month.
Daily Call Volume and Complaint Handling
On average, the Dial 112 service receives 467 calls per day. In the last month, the central desk handled 14,014 complaints, of which 13,274 were resolved using Mobile Data Terminals (MDTs) and 740 through manual methods.
How Dial 112 Works
When a citizen calls 112, the call first reaches the state-level central desk, which forwards the complaint to the relevant district police control room. The district team then assigns the case to the nearest PCR van or MDT-equipped officer, who responds immediately on-site.
District-Wise Response Times
Bokaro recorded the fastest response at 10.21 minutes, followed by Jamtara at 10.41 minutes and Dhanbad at 11.33 minutes. The slowest response times were noted in Khunti (17.19 minutes), Chaibasa (16.37 minutes), and Latehar (16.21 minutes). Ranchi’s average response time stood at 13.47 minutes.
