New Delhi: Pakistan’s middle-order batter Asif Ali has announced his retirement from international cricket, though he confirmed that he will continue playing domestic matches and franchise leagues across the globe.

In an Instagram post, Asif expressed that wearing the Pakistan jersey was the greatest honor of his life. He thanked his fans, teammates, and coaches for their unwavering support through highs and lows. He also extended gratitude to his family and friends for standing by him, especially during the tragic loss of his young daughter during the World Cup phase, which he said gave him the strength to carry on.
Career Highlights
Asif Ali made his international debut in April 2018. In 21 ODIs, he scored 382 runs at an average of 25.46, including three half-centuries. In T20Is, he represented Pakistan in 58 matches, scoring 577 runs at an average of 15.18, primarily playing the role of a finisher and power-hitter.
Memorable Knock in T20 World Cup 2021
One of his most iconic performances came against Afghanistan in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021. With Pakistan needing 24 runs off 12 balls, Asif smashed four sixes in Karim Janat’s over, finishing unbeaten on 25 runs off just seven balls and sealing victory with an over to spare.
