Ranchi: The Jharkhand High Court on Monday delivered a significant order in the Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT) recruitment case. Justice Deepak Roshan, hearing Meena Kumari & Others vs State Government [W.P.(S) No. 582/2023], highlighted several irregularities in the recruitment process and called for corrective measures.

Fact-Finding Committee to Probe Recruitment Flaws

Taking cognizance of the issues, the court directed the formation of a one-man fact-finding committee under Justice (Retd.) Dr. S.N. Pathak of the Jharkhand High Court. The committee will examine the entire recruitment procedure in detail on specific reference points and submit its findings.

Filling of Pending Vacancies

In a parallel directive, the court ordered the Jharkhand government and JSSC to expedite the filling of 2,034 vacant TGT posts that remain unoccupied. The move is aimed at addressing the shortage of teachers and ensuring that vacancies do not hamper educational delivery in schools.

Petitioners’ Allegations of Irregularities

Senior Advocate Ajit Kumar and Advocate Chanchal Jain, representing the petitioners, argued that the recruitment process was marred by serious irregularities and lacked transparency. Their submissions prompted the court to intervene and seek structural reforms.

Relief for Candidates and Step Toward Transparency

For TGT aspirants, the order is being hailed as a major relief and a landmark step toward greater transparency in the recruitment process. It not only paves the way for pending appointments but also ensures accountability in future recruitments.
