New Delhi: On the occasion of National Constitution Day, a grand ceremony was held in the Central Hall of the old Parliament building under the chairmanship of President Droupadi Murmu. The event witnessed the presence of Vice President CP Radhakrishnan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Union ministers, and Members of Parliament from both Houses, including Rajya Sabha MP Mallikarjun Kharge and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi.

Preamble Recited; Constitution Released in Nine Regional Languages

During the ceremony, President Murmu released translated versions of the Constitution in nine Indian languages — Malayalam, Marathi, Nepali, Punjabi, Bodo, Kashmiri, Telugu, Odia and Assamese. She also recited the Preamble, reaffirming the nation’s resolve to build India into a sovereign, socialist, secular, democratic republic guaranteeing justice, liberty, equality and fraternity to its citizens.

President Highlights Historic Significance of November 26

President Murmu reminded the audience that on November 26, 1949, the members of the Constituent Assembly completed the drafting of the Constitution inside the same Central Hall and adopted it on behalf of the people of India. She said India today stands as an example before the world’s largest democracies, and congratulated all MPs and citizens on the occasion of Constitution Day.
