Patna: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav attended the traditional dahi-chura feast hosted by his elder son Tej Pratap Yadav on the occasion of Makar Sankranti, asserting that there is no discord between them and stressing that such celebrations should include everyone.
Family Gathering and Political Presence
Tej Pratap Yadav organised the dahi-chura feast at his residence and invited family members and political figures. Lalu Prasad Yadav attended the event along with Rabri Devi and younger son Tejashwi Yadav. Bihar Governor Arif Mohammad Khan was also present, along with several BJP leaders, making the gathering politically significant.
Lalu Yadav Dismisses Speculation of Displeasure
Addressing the media, Lalu Prasad Yadav clarified that he is not upset with Tej Pratap Yadav and said the spirit of such feasts is inclusiveness. He remarked that everyone should be part of the celebration, putting to rest speculation about internal family differences.
Legacy of the Dahi-Chura Feast in Bihar Politics
The dahi-chura feast has long been associated with Lalu Prasad Yadav, who popularised the tradition in Bihar’s political culture. His own Makar Sankranti feasts were once major political events. Notably, this year the traditional feast was not organised at Lalu Yadav’s residence, making Tej Pratap’s event stand out.
