Ranchi: The Jharkhand High Court has directed the Secretary of the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) to personally submit an affidavit stating when the complete result of the Assistant Professor Recruitment Examination (Advt No. 13/2023) will be declared. The directive came during a hearing on a petition filed regarding the delayed and piecemeal release of results.
Court Seeks Clarity on Partial Results
Justice Ananda Sen questioned why JSSC was releasing results in batches—sometimes for 50 or 100 seats—instead of declaring the full result at once. The court expressed concern over the opacity of the commission’s process.
Petitioner’s Argument
The petition, filed by Rameshwar Mahato and others, claimed that although they were declared successful and called for document verification, the final result has yet to be published. They had applied for Assistant Professor posts from Class 1 to 5.
Their counsel, Amritansh Vats, told the court that only 4,333 results have been published out of the 11,000 sanctioned posts, leaving over 3,500 positions unaddressed. He added that there were no document discrepancies, yet the final merit list remains incomplete.
Violation of Supreme Court Order Cited
The petition cited a Supreme Court judgment in the Parimal Kumar case, where the apex court ordered JSSC to publish the complete result. The petitioners argued that JSSC’s step-by-step result declaration was not just unfair but also unconstitutional.
Government’s Side
The state government now has to respond, and the JSSC Secretary must file the affidavit detailing a clear timeline for the remaining results.
