Ranchi: In a significant development, the Supreme Court has granted bail to Pradeep Ram, an accused in the Magadh Amrapali terror funding-linked money laundering case. His legal representation was led by advocates Balaji Srinivasan and Aakriti Priya.
Earlier Bail Plea Rejected By High Court
Pradeep Ram had earlier approached the Jharkhand High Court seeking bail, but his plea was rejected. Following this, he moved the Supreme Court, where he has now secured relief.
Case Linked To 2016 Cash Recovery
The case dates back to 2016, when a police raid at Pradeep Ram’s residence led to the recovery of approximately ₹85 lakh. Based on this, an FIR (case number 2/2016) was registered at Tandwa police station.
ED Registers Money Laundering Case
Subsequently, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) initiated a money laundering investigation against him. The agency registered an ECIR (1/2021) under relevant provisions, linking the case to alleged terror funding activities associated with the Magadh Amrapali project.
Supreme Court Provides Relief
With the Supreme Court granting bail, Pradeep Ram will now be released from custody, subject to conditions set by the court. The case, however, will continue under investigation.
